September Preschool Music Summary

In September I was thrilled to meet all of our preschool day-home students for the first time! They are being very patient with me as I learn so many names!! In September our littlest students were introduced to my friend “Ta” (the quarter note) and learned that whether fast or slow, he only likes to walk, never run or stretch. Students played quarter notes on percussion instruments, were introduced to Beethoven, and learned to play the first two lines of Ode to Joy on our colour-coded metallophones. We learned two songs, Autumn Leaves are Falling Down (to the tune of London Bridge is Falling Down), and we learned A Joyful Autumn Song (to the tune of Ode to Joy, lyrics by Ms. Jenn), the lyrics are listed below so you can sing along with your little ones!

Autumn Leaves (to the tune of London Bridge is Falling Down)

Autumn Leaves are falling down!

Red and yellow, orange and brown.

Twirling, whirling all around.

Down, down, down.

Take a rake and rake them up!

Rake them up! Rake them up!

Pile them high; right too the sky!

Jump right in!

Autumn Leaves are falling down!

Red and yellow, orange and brown.

Twirling, whirling all around.

Down, down, down.

Joyful! Joyful! Fall is Joyful! (to the tune of Ode to Joy)

Joyful! Joyful! Fall is Joyful!

Won't you join us? Sing along!

Leaves are falling all around us!

Sing a joyful Autumn song!

Squirrels are gathering nuts for winter,

then they will hide the nuts away.

Pumpkins growing in their patches,

getting bigger every day!

Days are shorter, nights are longer;

Look at the big harvest moon!

Soon the snow will start to fall

and then we'll sing a different tune!

Joyful! Joyful! Fall is Joyful!

Won't you join us? Sing along!

Leaves are falling all around us!

Sing a joyful Autumn song!
